NPS Global Foundation
Irma Arguello is the Founder and Chair of the NPSGlobal Foundation, oriented to help reduce risks to global security. Under her leadership, the NPSGlobal Foundation became a respected non-governmental voice in this field, from Latin America to the world. Irma completed Defense and Security studies. Her education also includes an MBA, and a degree in Physics Science from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. After her graduation, she worked as a scientist at the National Atomic Energy Commission of Argentina. She developed then a managerial career in ExxonMobil Corporation. She is currently the Head of Secretariat of the LALN (Latin American and Caribbean Leadership Network) and also a member of the Steering Committee of the Fissile Materials Working Group (FMWG). She is also a member of the Nuclear Security Governance Expert Group, a member of the World Economic Forums Nuclear Security Council and a Chatham House Associate Fellow. She has been a promoter of the non-governmental participation in international processes where improvements to global security are discussed. Since 2010 she participated in all the expert official events on the side of Nuclear Security Summits. She currently heads the NPSGlobal Regional Postgraduate Course in International Security, Disarmament and Non-proliferation and is a frequent writer and speaker.
